I agree with you Ross, that brake band is too short

The correct brake band for the QS saw is part #1125 160 5450, the one on the saw in the pict is definitely not the correct one. The regular 036 brake band is part# 1125 160 5400 but they are different and won`t fit the QS saws.

I would double check the serial number on the saw. theres two different qs brake bands. the one posted above and also 1125 160 5451.

I have nothing to help you with Ross , even in my tenure with Stihl I had little to do with those as they were not sold in any numbers .

I figured as much looks like no brakes for this guy and it looked like all that stuff was gone any ways

I have only found a plain ol 036 ipl and it looks like its all or nothing with the brake system and if you wanted it to run like a normal saw you would have to replace the pto side case half. Now this is what I have found and if Iam wrong.or missed something please jump in. And I plan on trying some stuff soon folks so maybe with a little luck I can make some work and be safe.

What were you goong todo with it? This one has already been "fixed" with the removal of brake band and really just needs lines Carb kit rings and some wood to chew.

I have one of these as well. Can someone give me the IPL? I would like to avoid splitting the cases and replacing the clutch side half.
