My Stihl 036 has the Zama C3A carb on it. Is there a Tillotson model that is better than the Zama? Or a Walbro that is better than the Zama? I want to be sure that it bolts up to OEM linkage. I don't want to mess with any of that, just looking for a better bolt on option.
Thanks in advance for your help.

No. Good on power. Zama Carbs are cheaply made. Just looking for something a little different. Maybe better.

I've never noticed any difference between the oem name brands as far as quality of materials or overall quality of finish. Some are built to perform better and others are built to reduce emissions.
If your saw is ported then a couple modifications can be done to your carb to make it stand out from the others.

There is a Tillotson alternative.
Good luck finding one however. Most guys hang onto them.
Unless you want a Chinese knock-off?

In most of the 034/036 saws I've owned or had worked on, was a ZAMA carb. Never had an issue with them in these series.

1128 series.....well that's another story.

Send it to me and pay return shipping and I'll show you.

I have a Zama on my ported 034/036 conversion and it is one of my favorite Zamas. However it was made in Singapore. I'd like to find another built there.

My 34 S has the Tilly on it, I've swapped carbs around before just to see the difference. There does seem to be a small gain with the Tilly, but also seems to hold a tune better

Thank you. Is it direct bolt on with no modifications to the linkage?
