Guess you could use hoses to scale down or a hose end cap with a small nipple sticking out the end. I find the black flat ones easy to service. The old tower type with the white plastic nipple scares me. Usually add a hose and duck bill can to them if they leak and a cleaning does not fix it.You may have to rig a hose to put another type of vent on. The nipple that the black tower slides down over is pretty large diameter. I hate a stinkin’ Leakin’ Saw...
I have also done this and its the best work around I have found for these saws, it has proven to be fuel seepage proof. They are simple and look like this one in the link below,I don't have a picture of it but I have used a short piece of hose and the echo weed wacker type tank vent
They will fit under the new type air filter
Did you install that yet? Looks like a part for the later, non-tower vent. If it fits and works, that would be great. Tower vents seem to leak pretty often.View attachment 194531 I found the little tank flapper valve I was missing on mine.
Well, my saws with towers don’t have them. The way I read the parts catalog, they are used on later cap style vents. If it works, I’ll be ordering a couple for sure. Report back! (save part number too)DWYes. I installed it from inside the tank out. It was a little tricky. I had to use tweezers, align it so the tit fit through the opening, then push the flat spot with my finger and pull the tit with the tweezers. It sort of snaps into place. I haven't run the saw yet. I put some 2 stroke oil on it.
I got the wrong part???
My Bad! Just checked my Chainsaw Jim red lever. It has the orange flapper nipple thingy in there. I’ll have to check my others. This may explain a lot of fumes and spills... Carry on!Certainly.
So... the snorkle vents didn't have that flapper valve piece? They just left the hole open?
