Guy on the local buy-and-sell asking $325 Canadian (about $240 US) for an 026 with case. Says not much use over the years. From the pictures it seems to be in decent shape. I offered him $250 ($185); hopefully he will at least counter.

Don't really need the saw - already have an MS261 that I love - but thought what the heck; you can never have too many, right? This way a couple of us can work at the same time with them (although as of now if my son uses the MS261 I run the MS400 or 390XP).

For the shape it is in, looks to be a good deal. I worked on one earlier this year that was in much worse looking shape, but seemed to run well. I had to replace the piston, oil seals, carb and fuel line. It was also really dirty too. Looks like the guy you are thinking of buying from has a really clean saw. That is a good indication that the saw is in pretty good shape, but until you pull the muffler or spark plug, the insides could be a grab bag of good or bad.

This model appears locally every now and then and I have seen asking prices close to $500USD. A plus is that parts support are readily available for these.
Yes the parts should be readily available for a few yrs to come ( I think it’s 10yrs that stihl say ?) but there is the 2nd hand market and the non oem …

And the 026 is really the same as a 260 👍

Yeh, 026 that's ugly but runs well goes for $200 around here. I'd grab it.

Been pondering on making an offer for this one that's been sitting for weeks 2 hours south.

Another Facebook find...this MS 361 he wants $325; says it runs well. Not located around here but I have some family very close to there I'm sure would pick it up. Don't really need the saw but have heard nothing but good things about this model so tempted to add it to the collection! What do you think?

Spend the money on porting the 261 or 400 instead. 361’s are good tough saws but redundant compared to what you already have without sharing any parts with your other saws to my knowledge atleast.

Yeah this is what I have been thinking as well. Just kinda wanna have it as a collector saw but it doesn’t make a ton of sense for me personally!

Hmmm, but there are six of us in my family…what if we all wanna cut at the same time???

I still have my Stihl MS 361 that I bought in early 2008. It runs very well today, but I must admit that I used several other saws to help extend its life. I took this Pic the day after I bought it:

Truly a remarkable saw and I love using it even today. No complaints at all.
