what is the best way to tighten up the hook so the control rod will not jump out. used another rod it is loose to.

thanks shocked at how few opinions on this one. no replies at all at the repair forum. not much room for profit if I have to replace case

I've done a number of these, I usually get it heated up with the heat gun til it just gives a bit, test with your pliers after 10 secs or so, shouldn't take long.

Then just grab and twist it tight as I can with the pliers, don't worry about perfect circle shape as it'll hold round the rod just as well either way.

I had a different solution the vertical post under the side that pops out i drilled a small hole horizontal and using tye wire i wrapped it diagonal snug around the rod to hold it in the channel I've tried heating but they always came loose eventually just an idea lol

The most common reason for the switch rod coming out of the retainer is a lack of understanding of the way the Stihl switch works. I always explain it to my customers. (doesn't always sink in though)

I started doing it this way when several tree service saws kept being brought in nothing wrong just those boys pried the control lever out time and time again and didn't have enough sense to pop them back in lol
