Found this change of plans and a good one I think. There going to squish those tracks, I believe UP 26 big Blow is just a shell with the turbine and electric motors gone. Apparently the turbine locomotives were the loudest locomotives ever built and were not allowed to run in areas of California.

New Big Boy schedule! 844 will now double head BEHIND the BIG BOY 4014 to Ogden Utah on May 4! Arriving on May 8 at 11:30 AM. UP Turbine 26 is being readied to stand alongside these historic locomotives. For the 150the anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory Utah completing America's first transcontinental Railroad - The Union Pacific and Central Pacific (Southern Pacific) joined at Ogden Utah. At Ogden Union Pacific steam locomotives 844 and newly restored Big Boy, one of the largest steam locomotives ever built, will stand nose to nose for events over several days. The original plan was for 844 to travel to Ogden at the end of April and the Big Boy to follow on May 4. But the plan has changed. The two locomotives will travel together with the Big Boy on the front! When the locomotives arrive they will be greeted by one of the two surviving Union Pacific "Big Blow" 8500 HP gas turbines, which is being repainted for the event.

It would be fun to be on that excursion but ticket are sold at..holy cow!

OGDEN, Utah — If you want to ride behind Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4 No. 4014 next month, a ticket for a 65-mile one way trip across the Wasatch Grade that was the reason for the engine’s creation and the primary operating territory for the 25 locomotives will cost you what may be a record amount for a U.S. steam-powered excursion, $3,000 for a coach seat, $5,000 for a dome seat.

Holy crap that's insane price for those tickets! Just imagine how many saws that you could buy for $3,000 to $5,000!

Fund raiser. It would have been nice if they could have taken the volunteers that overhauled the loco.

A good opportunity to get some cash to help pay for the restos I guess.

They might get to ride in the support cars when they head out. I know when the 844 passed through a couple years ago they had plenty of crew hang out with the doors open.
