Check this out. On Monday, an ex-C&O caboose wearing original colors was being used on a revenue train in Lexington, KY. Even though the reporting marks show it actually belongs to a leasor, that's still cool as hell. I haven't seen that since I was a kid in the early 80's. Not my photo, unfortunately.

I agree, since they have gone to using ETDs, it's cool to see cabooses where ever they pop up - mostly on displays.

There is a caboose on display in a park near one of the county offices that my job serves, it is unusual on two counts. The build date is 1981, I can't imagine very many cabooses were still being ordered at that time. Also, it wears faded L&N colors and not Family Lines. So, in 1981 they ordered a new caboose and painted it in L&N colors although Family Lines had been a thing for several years at that point and existing cabooses were being repainted in the Family Lines scheme. I'll get a picture of it the next time I'm there.
