Gotta 076 i bought to go on my granberg. Bottom end bearings are shot, can hear it when it idles. So are there special tools involved in splitting/reassembling this monster? Or can i get by with freezing crank, cooking bearings, and warming case halves to get it back together. Thanks

I just split an 075... It is very easy to split without special tools. I use a knocker on the flywheel side to know the flywheel off and then re-use it to knock in the crank to split the case. I pulled everything on the PTO side and reinstalled the clutch to drive the crank out. You can use sockets to knock the bearing out if they stayed in the case or a small 2-jaw puller to get the bearing off the crank.

At work if im building a differential, i always use the freeze/heat method on case and pinion bearings just works slick and less part stress
