Dangit. You fellers are too smart for me.

Riddle me this, Batman... how would you "wade into" porting? Obviously there's going to be screw ups. Are those best committed on OEM pro jugs (sounds pricey, lol), AM jugs? Or on cheapo Poulan clamshells bought by the pound?

And y'all keep talking--you're not derailing me. I'm happy to listen to conversations that go over my head--that's how I learned where babies come from. ;)
Have you read this thread Jon?

@drf256 I'm very curious which route you go. It would be very interesting to port both jugs and get an extra piston for the pop up option along the way. It's not often the opportunity to start with smaller transfers happens. Well, I mean other than when you don't want them.

If a person cares to you can check sources such as MacDizzy and others who give basic size charts for ports based on bore size,RPM etc .The pros ,the cons .Doesn't cover every thing but it does lay out the basic relationships one to another .Takes a lot of reading too .Trying to remember it all is next to impossible unless you have total recall .I don't BTW .
Just keep in mind ,those who rely on a tachometer ,once you change the porting relationships factory rpm settings no longer apply .You have changed the design parameters .--the ear never lies if you know what to listen for ---

The saw has a Meteor piston in it. I do have a Huztl slug for the saw that I got on the cheap to use as a builder piston. I prefer to use a different piston for the build than for the running saw. OCD I guess. Even if the piston for the build will be fine, I hate the owner getting the saw with a scratched skirt. That happen sometimes when you're grinding and you havent beveled things yet.

I also have my own 361 I haven't touched yet. Not sure which jug I've got on it. I could do both saws differently and see what happens. I can also use the Huztl on my own saw as an experiment. If it goes BOOM, I'd rather it be my own saw.
