Right here
I remember Windsor being good chain 20 years ago and then being bought up/sold and the chain just became to soft.
I heard one company or factory is basically building all the chain now for the major chain brands except stihl?
So what's a good alternative to Stihl chain?

I have a few Carlton chains and I don't have any complaints

For the cutting I do, (firewood), the only saw chain I had any dislike was some anti -kickback stuff. Haven't had any issues with any particular brand, jus use wahat my dealer hands me.

For converting to square I prefer Oregon . taller cutters easier to file

I think the last 33rs I converted to square was one of the easiest chains I've ever filed. Seemed really soft. The Oregon and Carlton seem a bit harder to file. I did a 105 dl stihl a few months back I killed 3 save edge files on it.

Save Edge seems to have taken a few steps backwards. My new Save Edge files don't last like my old Save Edge files did

The best I've tried are vallorbee. They're holding up better than anything else. $100/12 though is a bit steep.

I've been running Oregon LGX with the "blueish" cutters and stihl RS. They both seem pretty good. Only thing I've really noticed is that when I sharpen the chains on my 511ax knock off with a CBN wheel the Oregon chain is left with more burr. The burr comes right off as soon as you touch it. I think it has something to do with the plating on the cutters
