I roll year round. If the water isn't hard I'll give it a try if I don't freeze to death. We also have a dock on Grand Lake that is heated so even if it's frozen out we can still get out. This was this last January. Can catch them year round.

Had some pretty pictures out on the ocean in a quick snowstorm. It was a good un. It was a super quick passing snowstorm. Just big flakes falling straight down. Didn’t catch that day but it’s a memorable one. Went out one morning it was 6-7 degrees. My controls froze from frost had to dump sea water on them to get going. The sea water was actually freezing on my gun Wales. There was no wind that day so it was doable. No fish that day either.

The day it snowed it was above freezing. The cold morning the big boys were biting. Just not biting what I was feeding them. I had all my gear on. Including a scarf. Water temp was high 40s. But yeah. It was crazy. Never forget those two days

If you have the right clothes cold weather fishing is awesome. I don’t care for it when it’s cold enough that your line freezes up in the guides on your rod though.

Late season fishing can be awesome ! The lakes in Northern Wisconsin normally freeze up for the winter in early Nov. Like most other musky guys , I use braided line that will absorb water . The line will freeze . Us musky guys are always casting and reeling . If you are jigging or use mono line you are fine .

Which rods are those, I couldn't zoom enough to read them? How do you like them? I've been looking for a good light lure rod in that range. Bought a 9' mh Chaos this year, but still too stiff for me. Was thinking about trying the 8-6 or 9 mh Tackle Industries.

The rods are St. Croix Legend Tournament . My main MH rod I use for small spinners is a St Croix Legend Elite Musky . The rods are awesome but pricey .

So the last rod seems to carry a fairly heavy line rating, 30-65lb test. Do you play the fish or just skull-drag them away from snags and whatnot?
