Normally I would just say these snows remind me of the 1977-78 snows we had when I lived in Connecticut, but this is much worse. We seldom if ever had below zero temperature readings there, nor did we have ice like this.

Heck, now it is so blasted cold at night that the garage lights won't even come on. More white stuff is supposed to show up this weekend as well. I may have to start working jigsaw puzzles.

They're talking about 8-12" on Saturday, plus more next week. Maybe rain then too.

This stuff is gonna have to start melting soon or I'm going to have to take up drinking. This being stuck inside doing nothing game is getting really old.
Can you get around in the woods at all? There's three feet of snow on the ground in the woods and Fields here. 18in on top of an 18in Frozen base

No chance around here, not with my equipment anyway. We might not have quite that much in the woods, but it's close. My Kubota has ag tires and 4wd, but it's not tall enough. I'm pushing snow with the hood. About the only place left I can do anything is the driveway. Got a few bundles of slabwood on my trailer to cut up. Went and bought it instead of trying to dig out my wood and trailer it up from the woods. Progress on pruning the orchard, working in the woods, cutting and splitting firewood, and getting ready for syrup season has all ground to a halt.

I've thought about plowing out a yard to work in, but I'd have half a day or more and a bunch of diesel into it, and with the way the wind has been blowing and the snow continuing to add up, I figure it'd just be drifted in worse than when I started.

Wait, you're from Wisconsin, and you have to "take up" drinking???????

We get 12 inches of precipitation a year, most of it as sno,, we are short this year. Today is the first day above freezing in a while.
Sno will probably be gone by next week.
This pic is looking south,,this road is about as far north as rattle snakes are in BC, it does get over 100f a few times in the summer. Lotsa sage bush here, black widows, tics fer a few months once the sno is gone. Once you leave the valley yer back in the forest.
