It’s funny I’ve never bothered with mid range axes in past years small kindling axes or big splitting axes , now Iam hanging out with you guys got a real interest in your every type of axe
It’s a shame hand helds wasn’t a subject In high school it would have had a full classroom every term

OK guys, here are some specs on my ax.

Weight is including 40" wooden handle, steel wedge and some wire wrapped around a split section of the handle.
Due to the 5 picture limit of the forum I got creative and combined 4 pictures into two.

Nice Wilheim. Thanks for those measurements.
Just a suggestion on the top of your handle. Maybe fill the voids with some epoxy? May tighten up the handle even more.

It's tight to a breaking point, it doesn't move a thousands of any measure - the steel wedge made sure of that! :D

But thanks for the suggestion. :)

I have heard of folks pouring wax n stuff in there to help keep moisture stable. A good set axe just doesn’t move in my limited experience.

I just figured that the epoxy would take up that void and secure it. Might help, might not. Lol
I was just thinking outloud. [emoji2]

Bone dry wooden handle and steel wedge driven into the handle till it starts "singing" while whacking the wedge - that's as tight as it gets in my limited experience.

Don't ever let a wooden handled ax get wet, the ax head will come loose once the handle dries out again.

But as said, I have rather limited experience regarding seating tool handles.
