Been working this ole hybrid axe on some straight grained 8” ash goes it saves some time splitting , iam glad I made this axe now at the time wasn’t sure how it would work

I have yet to encounter an ax that will perform better than this one.
I've split some oak rounds yesterday, this ax makes it easy and fun.

I havent got any heads or handles so I gave this one a spring freshen up

Yes it’s originally a Helko works 6lb axe basic range it didn’t feel very nice
I had a elwell no5 that was split and pitted to hell so I cut the head in half shaped them up and welded them to the HW then ground the welds down
and now it weighs 10lbs

Also, when I happen to seat a new handle to the ax I'll try remember to take a weight measurement without the handle.
