Gotta be careful with the 266 @jake wells there are two different pistons. The early thin ring takes two rings and the later ones use a single thicker ring the same as a 268 (for that matter a 268 ring will work in a later 266).

it looks a little like they blended a closed port cylinder with a open port cylinder.

I don't want to argue with Bob, he is the resident Husqvarna/Jonsered(s) guru, but that is the 268 Special cylinder, torquey, but I don't think it necessarily runs better than the CP 268XP cylinder.
