I have a stock Partner 5000+ That could use a new piston. The cylinder is closed port.

They are difficult to find so I bought a Husky 44mm 246 Meteor piston.
I knew I would have to open up the gap between the wrist pin bosses to suit the wider rod end on the Partner.

All dimensions on the 246 piston are perfect except for the length of the skirt which is 0.123" shorter than the stock 5000 piston.

Assuming it doesn't free port, what impact is this going to have on performance?

I know nothing about porting.

Thanks

You’ll have more intake duration with a shorter skirt on the intake side. Depending on your stock intake timing this could be a good or bad thing. I know nothing about those partners or the port numbers they would have though.

You’ll gain a bunch of intake duration which typically isn’t a bad thing unless it’s to much. If you think the duration is to much you could always add some JB to the intake port floor

Thanks for the info guys. Good stuff.
If the duration was too high on the intake would the saw just flood?

At that price Jacob, it's likely worth a try. Thanks!

Sounds just like a main nozzle check valve starting to go bad. Not good. Thanks for the insight.
