Pretty sure the latest part number for that plug is V144000620..., which they call a grommet.

Also bumping for help on the tank vent setup itself. Looks to consist of a "breather pipe" - (V470001480) and "element" -(E615000000). I assume the "pipe" just routes through the hole in the side of the tank and the "element" is inserted into the end of the "pipe"..., presumably the end inside the tank?

TIA for any clarification.

I just put a new OEM tank vent and hose...

@Mycamaro_68

So about the tank vent..., and since you've evidently done one of these...

Am I correct in assuming the hose gets routed through the hole and the "element" goes into the tank end of the hose after it gets pulled through? Can I also assume that the tank doesn't need to be dropped to sneak the hose in far enough to grab with a pair of hemostats? Probably use a dab of SealAll around the plug.

Here's what I have to work with. Pretty sure they're the correct components.

If I remember right I put the element in the opposite end of the hose and the hose was routed towards the front of the saw in between the tank and the case. I'll see if I can find the ipl I used.

Thanks for the response.

That's the way I ended up doing it on this particular 488 (element in the tank end). I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a 488 version with a primer bulb? Seems unlikely by the general vintage of the saw, but I swear I saw a reference to it. That could explain an exterior route for your vent hose if there was yet another line going into the side or top of the tank for a purge/primer bulb.

This is the first 488 that's made its way to my bench. Real nice one, too. Killer little saw. Documentation sure is scarce, though I did find an "all-in-one" shop manual that covers quite a bit on a general basis.
