They don't last when hanging off a biner for too long. I heard a guy on tree buzz call it a rich man's baby rattle, he hit that nail on the head with that one.

But it runs really good in that video.

The guy I ported it for has been using it for years. He only does bucket work, no climbing, but maybe you all are just hard on stuff?

@sawmikaze is not the first climber Iv heard this from, a few local climbers gave the 355's a shot and all went back to 201's.

On a side note, one of them gave my ported 2511 a go and wants one now.

They just can't take a beating like a 201, even the 2511 novelty is wearing off of all my friends in the business, some ran a modded 151 and that was that.

Then don't be a beast, and be a gentleman when using your saws :nusenuse:

It saves a lot of money in the long run.

But, yeah, some of the designs on Echo saws are stupid. Like the relatively fragile handle mount on the 355t, which means a complete teardown of the saw to replace the whole engine cover/gas&oil tanks just because it broke in one little place. Or how they put the sacrificial plastic oil pump gear inside the non-serviceable oil pump. Or how they tend not to tap magnesium holes, but use a screw best suited for plastic as a self tapping screw that can strip the magnesium easily.

Which non-pencil-type oil pump became unserviceable?
As for magnesium - it can be stripped with both srew types. And I've seen quite a few rebuilt and zero stripped because of that design.
Anyway the screws you mention are in 590/620 only, so it's not a tendency but more like exception. 2511, 4310, 501, 7310 are built with regular threaded ones.
And in general it is still better than one manufacturer utilizing aluminum screws for pro crankcases that are prone to fail.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s for a local but it’s got me thinking of buying one as they are pretty inexpensive.
I like em, we've been running some echo stuff for years.

This. I have a friend with a tree service. To put it nicely, his saws are beat to heck; his chains are worse. They have one goal in mind; finish the job safely and get to the next one.

He wants to borrow saws from me on occasion. I cringe when they leave; he does pay a rental fee, more than fair rental fee in fact. He borrowed my 3120 for one stump; paid me$200, a quart of tru-fuel, and a brand new chain!

That's not how it works, sugar.

Most guys I know (outside of climbing or bucket work) use a top handle saw at the chipper, that saw will ride in the chute from job to job, tools get used...and some take that using a whole lot better than others.

We have the rear handle version of the 360. Freaking love it.

It's eating a big chunk of seasoned red oak in the beginning of this vid with just a muffler mod, with enough grunt to actually dog it in:

Big chunk? Its not even bar length.

OK, let me rephrase it, it is eating a little less than bar length chunk of season red oak - a job one would rarely use such a saw for, being only 36cc's.
This is simply a comparison video I made, not a race video. All saws have a work tune, and not a cookie tune to them - though all but the Echo are ported.
It would hardly be fair to put a 360WES into the wood that 288 or 0-44 usually handle:

Mine rides on the battery box ,because I'm a careful soul.
It's true though I've been through the bolts and stuff on this 330T and for less than a 100$ investment, its no 200t though.
