Damn there’s nothing I hate more than a thief. I’m sorry to hear they got someone. Hopefully the funds can get resolved quickly.

Common sense goes a long way too...
If the price is too good to be true and another member posts a screenshot of photos taken from stihls website from a review where it says the saw has many tanks through it, that's your sign

There was nothing cavalier about the purchase. I was expecting it to be from a well know member. The price was good and that’s probably why I jumped on it before anyone else did. The deal was done before agent smith or anyone else posted about the add.
Can you imagine if you had to wait for a phone number, contact the member to verify a sale. Etc etc
As a seller I would sell to the first member that ponies up the money, not make 10 different phone calls.
And yes I will be very gunshy about ever buying anything again when I can’t touch it!

There’s NO good reason to rush the transfer of $$$.

Rush into the agreement, yes, absolutely feast or famine !!

But knowing the people here, especially you knowing the people here, I can’t think of one guy who’s going to break his word because the transferr of $$ didn’t happen in 3 seconds

A normally NIB $1500 saw for $800? Even Matt's are $1300. That was the first bright blood red flag. OPE can only go so far to prevent such, after that, it's on us.

A phone call/lack of phone call wood have saved your azz on it, dam lucky pp took care of you. Even posting you "will take it pending phone call" call should have been sufficient, if the seller can't wait a few minutes for that, not somebody I want to buy from.

I have made purchases from a bunch of different members on here, no one ever pressured money be sent right away.

This and this.

So PayPal now reversed their decision and charged my account because I used friends&family, there is no recourse.
So beware!

Well luckily PayPal reversed the charges and my bank reversed the nsf charge. I do hope that OPE can do a better job of protecting its members and find out exactly how this happened.
how is this ope fault ? I’ve had a lot of dealings with the guys on here and they have always been good with I’ll send the money when I get home
I’ve also asked questions about the saws and asked for more pictures that also helps verifying that it is not a scam

but to put it on ope shoulders is not the right thing to do

@exCanuck has made it where you have to do a code to verify because of it happening more than once
Computer hackers are pieces of *s-word that need a good throat punch and limbs cut off

I watched it all go down and if you look at time stamps you kinda jumped the gun

I think OPE is doing a good job. There is a new thread on protecting your password.
Buyer beware is always a good idea.
But there are dishonest people out there that all they do is try and scam you out of your money.
Now they get a bigger pool with the internet.
I have been scammed and didn't get my money back, i call that my education tax.
Now if its to good to be true i have things i do to make me satisfied it's a good deal or pass.

Two things on this planet everyone will be or has been victim of…and if you haven’t been a victim yet, you can knock on wood all you want, but they’re still a comin’:

1) If it’s too good to be true…it is!

2) No good deed goes unpunished!
