Well I jumped off the deep end and ordered a MS261 C-M saw from @Mastermind. I'm still not convinced about the longevity of the m-tronic but time will tell.
Thanks for everyone's input. I considered and looked into a lot of the suggestions here before making a decision.

You won't be disappointed Jeremy.

Good choice, you will be seriously impressed.

The 20 percent off sales are easy to find. The 620 is about 450 at one of the sales events. If I were using it for a livin I would prefer the 562.

The 562 is a heck of a lot meaner when mastermind is done with it though.

Unfortunately in my area echo support and sales don't exist, the largest local dealership offers me good prices on huskys and is unwilling to negotiate on stihl pricing. I like em all myself. If there was a good Makita dealer round here I'd get a new one.

Updated: Oops, didn't see past page one or notice he already decided.

Welcome to OPE. As above, there are plenty of really great saws from many different brands out there that would fit your needs. In general, if you want just one saw for firewood and clean up duty, most people (self included) would recommend something in the 60cc class. It's nice combination of plenty of power without being overly heavy. I you think you may be buying a second saw someday soon-ish, you may want to start with a good pro 50 cc saw and then pick up a 70 cc saw when/if you need it. FWIW, I own Stihl 026, MS261CM original, MS361 and MS461. If I had to pick only one, I would go with the MS361 in a heartbeat. I love that saw! If only 2, probably the MS261CM and MS461, or maybe the 026 and MS361.

Another idea would be to buy a good pro 50 cc saw. When and if you decide you need more power, you could get it ported for ~$3-400 and have the power of a stock 60 cc pro saw (4.5+ hp) at the weight of a 50 cc. That's a lot less expensive than buying a second "big" saw.

So do I. Take away all of my saws but let me keep one. It would be the Stihl MS361 that would remain:

That did it. I'm taking it back out on my next wood-cutting venture and giving my Husky 257 a rest. The relief pitcher needs a rest now and then also.

Who’s this mastermind fellow?
Sounds shady.
Why would anyone want to cut beautiful trees and burn them?

Seriously though, good decision!
Now heed @Deets066 advice and stay up on the chain work.
I ran two MMWS MS261 this April, smooth and powerful.

@Fruecrue yep dull anything sucks!
I was hoping we wouldn't get a hurricane before the saw arrives for clean up but looks like the rain could be much more of a problem! These storms that sit just offshore and continue to fuel up have gotten old!

Good luck with the storms. I’m just outside of Buffalo, we get them just a little different than yours.
