Well that's a good question! I'll have to do a side by side test. They are both strong runners. The 261 has a 8 pin on it and the 026 a 7 pin. Thought I had another .325-8 but I was wrong.

Mtronic and no issues. Im only on the third or forth tank.

I feel sure a well broken in 026 with a miffler mod would hand a new 261 it's ass. But, as the 261 breaks in, it will gain ground and take the lead. Yea, makes you scratch your head right after unloading your wallet.
The 261 has a lot of "feature" upgrades over the 026, especially the deluxe air filter. I love both. Great saws! I run 7's to keep the RPM's up.
