Why the cast above the elbow for a broken wrist?

To stabilize the wrist for the first two weeks. If it was below the elbow the bones could move.

Ugh Dan. Hope she gets well soon.

And yeah, they cast above the elbow so the forearm can't rotate (supinate/pronate). If the cast is below the elbow, the arm will rotate and the fracture won't heal in the wrist.

Hey guys Sarah will be running her saw pretty soon! The cast came off today and she has a splint for two weeks. No tumbling for four weeks. We're taking a little vacation next week so probably when we return she will do a little cutting!
