Saw builds.....................

Workin on revamping the hybrid.

I planned on running a 272 single ring piston. The pin is the same, but the skirts are the same width. 272 has shorter skirts and a .102 taller crown. Just didn't work out.

I was going to takes some pics and a video of how I build 660's for the logging outfit in town today but I forgot.
I build a bunch of saws for them.
Mild compression and a small ignition advance with a mild muffler mod. They still run good and live on and on.
The saw today went back to work at
99 120 80

I'm gunna try longer BD on a hybrid, Snelling started the short BD theory for these that everyone lives by.

Short blowdown only works if everything else is well balanced. It will produce good peak power but the rest of the curve suffers. Could be fast on the block or really slow depending on the operator.

I've learned to use more bd than I use to and I prefer the feel of a saw with more.

I left the transfers untouched, final numbers 101.5-122-80 with .022 of the base and no gasket

I remember Treemonkey fully disagreeing with Brad's belief on it.

IIRC, there was some member from the Netherlands who really knew his stuff talking about redoing one. Brad offered his theory and findings, which in and of itself was totally fine. But then the guy disagreed, Brad failed to have an open mind about it, and the ole AS *s-wordpile thread began.

The guy and Scott were posting some pretty technical stuff about 2-strokes and BMEP's. Seems the poster was some type of mechanical engineer or something.

I'll try to find the thread.

The lower blowdown ones are fast in small stuff. I think my 046 cylinder only had 16 degrees as it was.

My first year 046 had 17 degrees of blow down and my 460 had just over 20,no earth shattering difference between them.
