Got me a honk Kong phooey 660 here to play with and then sell.

I ran one a couple months ago and it felt like an epa saw that needs a little opening up. I've been tempted to buy one for the same reason.

Exactly,only a gasket delete.

This is what I done. Base gasket, timing, baffle in muffler removed. Transfers smoothed. I do have a cylinder I ground on and have tried.

I did the basic stuff most do to a 660.

To me it's still a stock saw, I think those basic mods should be done to every saw.

I didn't. I was short on time and wanted to run it. And I was testing some square chain I practiced on. Ran my 460 today also.

For a spare saw -- are these chinese kits to the place now where you could say..."yes, it's a viable option"?

Second question. If you ported this kit, would you advise an OEM clutch or any other changes that will improve the longevity of the saw.

i think the chinese saws would be more of a play toy than a work saw but thats my 2 cents

If it's built correctly and passes a pressure/vacc test and tuned with a good carb maybe. My ported cylinder was limited. Jason can tell when some power is put to it. I feel the bottom end is solid. I put about 100$ more in it with oem parts and I feel it would last.
