Ive built several husky's in the past few months and every one has has gave me coil trouble.

3 394's and 3 372 coils

I ported a 394 for tom rooney that I ran a lot,boxed it up and sent it home .

He got it and it wouldn't run.
Coil was bad.

Its fixed now!!!

Maybe it's the magnetic field emanated from your porting prowess mate

They just overheat and let the smoke out

I just think there coils are not very good.

Perhaps the husky coils need a bit of blue loctite dribbled over them?

Are AM Chinese coils any better or worse? Would a Stihl coil fit a Husqvarna?

I took a new am 372 coil out of the box and it was bad. Lol

I bought 7 aftermarket coils a while back; every one of them were bad!!!! The OEM 346 OE coils have been very good though.

Plus I'm looking for a 390xp husqvarna project saw for a friend

My 394xp coil went out before and I replaced it with a good used oem one as it did not want to restart when hot. Probably didn't help that the previous owner didn't clean underneath covers despite low hour condition of the saw. Sawdust packed around the coil blocking airflow. Coil was melted/cracked.

I have had good luck with AM coils for Stihl 440 & 460s so far, except that the plug wire is always too long. I just double it back a bit. Have not done many.

you can adjust the length by unscrewing the plug lead out of the coil and cutting it shorter

Got a rwj and 390 boot on this 372 but can't keep fuel to it.
4 turns out I can run it out of gas if I make back to back cuts.

Yes it does have a popup but I still cut the chamber some.

In many many years I've only had a couple stihl coils that were bad.

From all the Stihl equipment I see I rarely see a saw coil bad. Use to see a lot of 4-mix coils not fire or not advance. Not anymore. Lately it been fs55's. If stihl see a problem they'll call for them back and find out the problem.
