RS 2 newb here with questions. In the madsens guide there was mention of a wheel wear indicator scale located on the machine, but mine looks like it was worn off decades ago. Is the indicator scale located on the left side of slide assembly?
I see a pin that that comes off the top assembly that would have to coincide with what I'm guessing was the wheel wear indicator. Does anyone with a RS2 have any pictures of this scale with approximate dimensions?

Being new to the RS2, it can be a struggle to learn how to set it up. How do you guys determine how far forward or back to set the slide assembly as the wheel wears? What's the best location to start with a new wheel? Thanks!

Make small adjustments but make reference marks so you can go back. You simply need to see what works for you and your environment. What works well for me Brian may despise and Mike thinks is OK. Chain is as much about personal preference and local species as anything.

Yep, it took at sorts of trial and error but when I found the a combo of angles and carriage position that produced ok results, I added some witness marks.

It was just blind luck to get this point without anyone's input. I'm still hitting the straps but it cuts ok.

Now I can try some other positions and see how each adjustment changes things. It's all trial and error right now.

You can change that some by the thickness on the edge of the wheel. Trying to remember all the tips. I sold all mine 3 years ago now.

I agree, my wheel profile is pretty chunky (broad upright profile and short top plate angle) and I'd like to expirament more with that.

I was all over the board trying different wheel positions (up, down). I think this is with the .100 gap between top of wheel and bottom of housing.
