I think the modern 'reduced wieght' bar option has done wonders in balancing saws particularly larger 28"-36" bars to power heads. I still think light weight bars have a lot of room for improvement. The Tsum/Sugi RW's could be a LOT lighter, the Stihl/Oregon designs seems to really remove the weight. Getting a Sugi/Tsum/Cannon and modifying it yourself with an angle grinder & cutoff wheel takes a RW bar to a whole new level.

I have not had a chance to try one of these light bars.
Stihl bars are unaffordable, but I would like to try one of the light sugi's on my 066.
Just make your own.

I like how the oregon 32 lw balances on the 440 ,tried the 28 lightweight this weekend just to clean up some log ends ,power was zippier than the 32 ,but felt too light in the nose to me for what i'm used too .

You must have seen the 461 pic i posted the other day Keith ,Lol

How is the sideways balance ? do they dip any more on your saws ?

I like how you can use the Oregon RW to either cut wood, or swat flies.

Now that just looks way too professional! I hope you recorded a beginning weight, but regardless, I would like to know what it weighs when you are done with it.

I wonder if you left it skeletonized if it would cause any problems?

A new Oregon 32" Power Match in D025 mount weighs 4.7 lbs. This bar is a D009 and now weighs 3.51 lbs. A new Oregon RW 32" weighs 3.3 lbs.

I've heard that open cutouts can fill with cutting debris, and the bar will hang up in the cut.

Any idea how that compares to a Stihl ES Light Weight? I only have em in 28" & 36", no 32s.

Nice weight savings!

No idea. Stihl only states that they are 30% lighter than a comparable ES bar.

Maybe @Redbull661 has some info on these.

Edit: @MustangMike I went digging around on AS for @Redbull661 guide bar test threads, and included in his thread are weights Stihl 32" 050 ES listed at 4 lbs 10.5 ounces, and a 32" 050 ES Light is listed at 3 lbs 5 ounces.

Do You guys test rig balance with full fuel & oil tanks, or do You fill them up just as much is needed to take a picture of a "perfectly balanced" saw?
I was just wondering as nobody seems to have asked about that.

Some nice setups You guys have!
