I was given a circa 1992 Craftsman 44" Riding Mower that I use to clean up weeds around a small property.

It is a model GT6000, part number 917.255960.

I knew the blades were dull, so when I went to remove them I was surprised when the left blade needed a larger wrench for the bolt, and the other 2 used a smaller wrench.

Taking a look at the photo, you can see that the bolt and hole on the the left blade is larger than the center and right, and the blades have different numbers.

Left: 2462
Center: 2162
Right: 2162

I can't imagine this is factory, so thinking maybe someone replaced the left pulley/spindle with a mismatch bolt hole and just hacked it to work.

I am going to sharpen the blades I have, but would like to buy a new set of blades and I am having a hard time finding a replacement set.

Either the spindle was changed, or more likely, the shaft was drilled and tapped to the next size. The ipl shows all three blades (95-014) have the same part numbers with a 3/8" center hole. The part numbers on your blades appear to be aftermarket also.

I appreciate the insight and part number.

Where is the “ipl” to search for parts?

Thanks

I don’t know if it works on craftsman tractors, but it works on nearly every chainsaw I’ve tried. Google the make and model number followed by the letters IPL.

I'm convinced I need an ipl for this googler.
Couple of old craftsmans in my bone yard I'd let you pillage if not so far away. They are beat though.
Might just park the googler beside them lol.

If you were to replace the spindle, I believe the part number is 105483X.

Go to searspartsdirect.com
Enter the model number in the search box (917255960) No dot after the 917.
This will give you the IPL
Get the part number(s) you are looking for and google for them.
These tractors are usually made by MTD, AYP or some other major manufacturer and they use the same part numbers.
The blades you are looking for are 106635X or old number 95-014.
I have had good luck finding the parts on ebay or amazon.

Thanks all for the great info. I think I found some new blades that will work. I might just drill out the hole on the one blade that is oddball.

Also, what is IPL? Interchange Parts List?
