Reviving husky 181 from a long sleep.

Working on a friends saw that he had given to him. I guess the saw was used mostly for cutting holes in ice for ice fishing.

Any how at a quick look the on off switch is loose. Cant see how it fastens. Someone on another post showed a pic of a small screw but dont see it on this one.
The half wrap handle is bent will try to straighten.
It has spark and compression.
Think i will grab a carb kit clean carb and go from ther. Try to fire after that and hope it dont need any seals.

Will see if i can get the muffler off without breaking the bolts to check cylinder too.

If muffler comes off easy enough ill probly do a presure vac test to be sure seals are good

Looks like someone replaced your switch with the snap in model. It has two terminals. The original sw had only one and grounded through the screw mount

If the switch on the bench is to be utilized a separate ground wire will need to be made up and added.

That should be the original switch for the 181. You can take it out and bend the sides to make contact again possibly.

Little screw should connect it to the wire going to the module. It receives the ground from the switch when turned to the off position.

Was the old style, first 266's had 'em too. The other tab is for grounding heated handle system on G model.

First switch I came across like that had me all goofed up for a while, hate to see others have the same trouble. Current Husqvarna part number - 503 7179 01

I tried to buy one of those. The guy had I bought my 272 had one. Wouldn't let it go. It ran well

I presure vac tested and she leaks almost quick as i pump air in. Pulled clutch off and flywheel. Seal are good. I couldnt figure out where the leak is. I sprayed soapy water on crank seals where i had intake and exhaust blocked off and around cylinder base gasket. Any other areas to cheack. Never checked crankcase gasket. Will go try.

If you have checked everywhere and still can not find it, place the saw on its side open the oil cap and with a little flashlight look for bubbles in the oil.

I found it. Inbehind the metal plate on clutch side. Thers a little ruber seal thing ther for the oiler ( i think).
