Looking for replacement for my husqvarna 55.
Echo 501 or husqvarna 545 mk2.
First is cheaper 530€, second is 650-700€.

The Husqvarna is one dandy of a saw, I would even recommend you look into the 550xp mkII. Plenty of power right out of the box.

I have no experience running the 545 or 550 but I would assume either one of those huskies would be a great replacement for the 55.

I'm wondering how the 501 would be for a replacement for the 55, is the 501 way behind on power? I think the echo is a bit lighter which is always a selling point for me, as well as the lower price.
Any opinions or experience out there on that, as far as torque and speed goes?

Assuming both saws are stock......

I had Two CS501 saws, good saws, very light weight.
I would not buy one to replace a 55, they are not as powerful.
But they are the only 50cc saw with a standard carb that is worth
buying.
If you want power in a 50cc saw, buy a Stihl 261, seem to be the most
reliable of the computer controlled saws out there.

I read about the new Husqvarna 550XP Mark 2 still giving reliability
and starting trouble, same for the 545, even though they use different
generation autotune, even bearing troubles, I see very little trouble with
the Stihl 261.

The 501p or 4910 are great saws if they are ported…else they are just kinda turds.

I’d fix the 55. Not a race horse but they stood the test of time.

550’s are fast but need extra oil to get the bearings to last.
Not as fast as a 550, but the Echo 4910 or 501 are solid saws for a couple hundred $ less
261’s are the most expensive, available in both mtronic or adjustable carb

Best answer material right there.

Much as I like my Husqvarna 353, I think the older 55 would outrun it. Regardless, I rate my 353 as a go-to saw for most firewood. However, yesterday I ran into an ash log trunk on the ground that my 257 was having trouble with a 20" bar on board. So, I grabbed one of my 70-cc saws with a 24" bar and that worked.

Seems to me that a 3-saw plan is still a must these days and has been for years. Unless your 55 is beaten to a pulp, I would repair it and keep it.

Sorry I have not ran the models spoken of.

Keep that 55 around you might want to fix it up later as a backup saw.
The 55 is a very easy saw to work on and parts are still available. :)

H55 is working ok. Dont like that oils all the time and outer clutch.

On papers echo 501 look similar.

Run a stiffer oil or add STP to thicken what you have, that will slow it down for summer use.
Look at the good side to the outer clutch, it runs in a cleaner environment than an inner does.
+ & - to everything I suppose.

If you're really wanting to get a new saw and you like the specs on the 501p, maybe consider a 4910? Unless the 4910 isn't available where you are, they are basically the same thing with a couple less features.
