I think I will wrap the lower section with some 1x10 primed cedar to match the window and door trim, and that will leave about 4”-6” between the bottom of the trim and the dirt. Then I will hang my deck boards over the top of those to hide the top edge of the trim board.

My helper didn’t show up, again... but I managed to get the siding done on the long wall and build the little retaining wall today. Also finished cleaning up dirt from yesterday’s excavating...

I guess I should call him on Monday, since we are expecting more rain towards the end of next week... I kinda moved on to other stuff since i really didn’t want to be up on the roof in 85* weather, but I should at least get felt on it.

Got my roof inspection, and installed the synthetic felt today, and also installed more siding... just have the back wall of the addition left, and the rest of the lap siding to do in the front.

How did you felt the cricket? Just curious as I am about to embark on a reroof on my state residence. It is hip all around and has a cricket as well. I would do metal but I have a power attic fan and that cricket. We have also had bad luck at the shop on screws leaking on the metal roof. That is about to start another thread!

No good way to do the felt on the cricket... It will probably leak a little but I’m not too concerned with a small leak.

Raining like a sonofabitcch today... kinda pisses me off to the point that I’m thinking about shutting it down until it stops raining and dries back out. Working in the mud is a pain in the ass.

Check out lp smart side shakes. Much better workability than hardie board.
