Finally got siding on the back gables. Next up, boxing in the soffets.

Got the gable ends boxed in. Still need to do the eaves.. was hoping to get the outside painted, but it looks like it’s gonna rain next week.

Trying to figure out what color to paint the house... I’m wanting to keep the shingles wood toned, and come up with a color that will look good with that. I keep coming back to this blue color, with white trim...



I also see a lot of grey and green houses with wood shingles on the gable ends. I hate picking paint colors!

There's one here that is green with dark stained shingles on the in-sets with white and dark green trim that looks really sharp. I'll try to get a picture of it today.

Thanks! My brother helped me box in the eaves, so next up is paint prep. I got ten gallons of primer and I will try to get it all caulked and primed in the next few days, while the weather is good.

Blue ain’t gonna work with my shingles... they are a Slate color, but when you see them from a distance they have a green tint to them that really doesn’t go with Blue. Looking at Greens now.

Did I mention I hate picking paint colors?!

Yes. The bare wood really needs to be primed so it doesn’t soak up too much paint.

Also, on the next house, I’m painting before I install the roofing and gutters... and since I’m leaving the shingles brown, I should have installed them after painting, as well.

Went with a dark grey/blue/green color (Behr Coastal Storm) in a Satin sheen. I’m happy with it.

Still need to finish cutting in, and then I’m doing a clear polyurethane on the wood shingles.
