Was able to score a load of pinoak from Craigslist. Homeowner was a great help using his little Husky 450 and loading. He said 2 others contacted him but I was first so he waited until today and gave me first chance. Should be some nice firewood in a few years.View attachment 482910View attachment 482911View attachment 482912View attachment 482913View attachment 482914

I should add that my 562xp, great saw, with 24"bar got to do the playing on my side. He was impressed like I was about his 450. Had the MS460 but had trouble starting it, compression release kept resetting, so it along with my 365sp just got to watch from the sidelines.

How well does that stuff split?
With great difficulty when green, impossible to hand split. I once went 50 swings with an 8lb just to see...nothing. A little difficulty when very dry and cracked. Also depends on the specific species of eucalyptus and I think trunk vs. limb wood. Limbs are tougher. Videos of it on my YT, same handle.

Next door neighbor had an elm taken down that was pretty much on the property line. Told her that they could just drop it and I would cut it to length. She had them cut it (16") at least they left the trunk for me to deal with.20260401_171833.jpg20260401_171851.jpg20260401_171902.jpg20260401_171908.jpg20260401_171925.jpg

Got it cut up yesterday and moved it to my side today plus some cleanup. Should be some nice heat in a couple of years. Most likely will let it sit a few months before starting to split it.20260405_180433.jpg20260405_180447.jpg20260405_180451.jpg20260405_180501.jpg
