I am trying to give away my ducks to a new home, no one wants them.

Seriously, WTF! o_O

My dad says we'll eat them... :(
No way I could, I watched them grow and bring me joy.

Guy I work with grandmother asked him to shoot the smallest one he could for her to eat every deer season. She always wanted a yearling for the tenderness.
I have a different view on the subject.

Many decades ago a jackass here shot a small yearling and refused to tag it. He rolled it in a tarp and put in the trunk of his 1978 T-Bird...........He never was allowed to hunt here again.

Neither my wife or I hunted opening day here Friday November 17, 2017 as there were too many folks on "sick leave". My three sons hunted and when my wife and I got home around 4;30PM they were waiting in the driveway. I knew there must be a big issue and there was. They were pissed off and rightfully so.!!!! Jackass Dale had shot a small buck in the morning and a large buck in the afternoon. We are limited to one buck tag and he refused to tag the small buck leaving it lay.

It was tagged.

I still have the skull to remind me.

We have the same idiots in this area. I found three "hunters" in the middle of my property in full camo on opening morning several years ago. The excuse they gave the cops was that they were trailing a deer they shot almost 3/4 mile away. I found the spot in my field that they had gut shot it, trailed it for a while and then lost the blood. Found the deer a week and a half later under some brush when I was cleaning up a downed tree on a fence row. Had a lot of people who would jump fences and have someone drive deer from woods on property that is close to mine and start throwing lead when the deer would be driven across someone else's open field.

this is the kind of crap that just boils my blood. if you arent a good enough of a shot to drop an animal you should not be shooting at them in the first place. when i was young i wasnt allowed to hunt for animals until i could consistantly hit the bullseye at varying distances. head, neck, or heart are no where neat the guts of an animal.

nothing wrong with that buck
I agree it was fine and he should have been a man and tagged it. He loaded his bigger buck and left that one laying. When I got home I was faced with a moral dilemma. He was long gone and the deer needed tagged. No matter what decision I made it would be wrong. Had I called the Game Warden I would have zero evidence Dale shot it. He could easily claim one of my sons shot it and then where am I at? There was no way in hell it was going to go to waste. It needed tagged so even though it was immoral and illegal I placed my wife's tag on it. He was then banned from here.

Random thought: Be a man and take responsibility.

im glad it didnt go to waste. it shouldnt have gone to waste. here the game wardens would take that animal to one of the jails and they would eat it. they would investigate and maybe come to the right conclusion maybe not but the animal would still be used as food

I agree!
Around 1989 or so I shot a doe on opening morning from on the top of the bluff shooting downhill. One shot was all that was needed and she ran a short distance..
The next morning a decent buck came by and I dispatched him with one shot.
I kept the two empty shells and gave my brother chit when he would fire all three rounds.

Now in full disclosure in 1992 I had a good buck pop up over the bluff and he was out a solid 70 yards. I debated as that was a long shot for me with a slug in an old Ithaca 37. I fired and he ran toward me. I did harvest him but I did shoot him two more times.
