Nice Fox Body … I used to have an 85 GT, my current 2006 GT is Mustang #10. (65, 2-67, 3-68, 70, 85, + 2000). The 65-68s were all fast backs, and the 70 was a Boss 302 body with a 427 Ford Motor.

The current one has about 550 Hp (with the Whipple) and a Steeda Suspension, so good all around performer.

That is awesome! I want a Foxbody. That's a ton of power, I love Whipple's they are great and perform incredibly well. Enjoy your Stang!!

I know, and I almost said that.
I've always though a 200hp blue top would go great in my 97 odyssey, stock motor needs a head gasket, I'll just order a jdm engine. I also need to do something with my 2000 insight, one day I was driving it and she sounded like she lost a bearing squealing like mad then shut down . Bummer not having a garage, one day I'll drag them to my buddies or I'll get my garage. Maybe a Camaro will fall into my lap :D.
That would be fun! Too bad on the issues though! I need a shop too, no room here, Steve knows! You will get one, takes time!

You never know when you will get an Email from Customer that has a one owner 68 camaro that they need to get rid of, and asks if can you trade for landscaping work?!?!? Ya it happened!

Personal shops are a bad idea, you start to aquire even more stuff you dont need! :D

Are we talkin' project rides? I'm all ears.

Copart/aai. You want a cheap daily that's tough and can be modded? Get something with a Duratec 2.0 or 2.3 engine. I'm a huge fan of the 2.0, love mine and tons of bolt-ons available.

I'm reading my 2020 Car + Driver and they have a retro comments section on 1970 cars: "The Boss 302 is the best handling Ford ever to come out of Dearborn and may just be the new standard by which everything from Detroit must be judged".

OK, so I replaced the small block with a Ford 427, but I put an aluminum intake on it, which substantially reduced the weight of a FE Ford motor (they had the widest intakes in the industry). Then I added BFG Radial TAs, which the originals NEVER came with!

Performance was very similar to my current Mustang, but now I get almost twice the MPGs, thanks to FI, a 5 speed, 3V, VCT and a SC to make up for the loss in cubic inches! That 427 did have awesome torque from 1,000 RPMs - 6,800 RPMs. The rear axels were close, but the new trannys have much lower first gears. I put a wider ratio tranny into the Boss (I was ahead of my time).

The close ratio that came in the Boss had a 2.20/1 first gear, I put a 289 Mustang Tranny in it that had a 2.71/1 first gear (so I did not need rear gears). My current Mustang 5 speed has a 3.35/1 first gear, it is almost too much with the 3.55 pumpkin! (The Boss had a 3.50 pumpkin).

What dose your current car run in the quarter? Have you taken it much?

Never had it to the track, but have a G-Tec on it. My best 0-60 is 4.1 sec, and quarter mile is 12.48 (with real street tires with 300 tread wear ratings). I'm sure drag radials would do much better, but then my drivetrain may complain!

Traction is a real issue in 1st and 2nd, you have to drive it real careful to get those times. I'm sure drag radials would easily put it into the 11s.

Even though I don't really feel the slip in 3rd, if you forget to turn off traction control it will kill the engine, so there is some slip.

Shift points are 45, 70, 110 and 4th will get you up to about 150. Fifth is just for over drive.

You have to shift fast as the computer kills the engine at 6,250. With my Eagle Crank, Rods and Pistons the engine will take a lot more, but it would "violate" the 50 State emissions legal tune, so I leave it where it is.

I hear ya, traction is always an issue, even 100 treadwere tires mine spins 1st and second, and with 200s 3 gear was bad and dangerous! My camaro has 266 first and 4:10 rear, shift points are 55, 80, 113, 138, no need to test 5th and 6th! Lol

Back in the Day my 68 390 GT (with a very aggressive cam, not the one I ordered) with 3.25 rear and close ratio 4 spd did 70 in 1st, 90 in second, 110 in 3rd. Never did max out 4th, but 135 MPH in that car scared the crap out of me! It had a tired worn out suspension, and bias ply tires up front! It was stable till I let off the gas, then it fluttered! (I shifted it at 6,800)

That was my fastest (straight line) Mustang, and the only one I NEVER lost a race with. I ordered the 306 duration 427 solid cam for it, but I'm sure they gave me the 320 duration cam (same as they ran as NASCAR). The engine did not have enough vacuum to open the secondary's on a 735 Holley, so we put an 800 on it with Mechanical Secondary's. Had no power under 3,500 RPM, then it pinned you to the back of the seat.

Beat all the hot rods up at College with it in the 1/8 mile, in the mid 70s, they could not believe it. They all had gears, traction bars, built engines, etc. The suspension was loose enough that I stayed close to them on the launch, they when the engine hit 3,500 I started gaining on them, when I banged 2nd at 70 I jumped 3 car lengths on anyone I was racing, and the race was over!

It would just walk away from anything I was racing, that body style was very light. I ate up a 440 6 pack Super Bee with Headers, traction bars and MT tires like it was nothing! Raced a built 383 Road Runner and let off when I hit 4th, was about 20 lengths ahead of him.

It was faster than my 428 (68) , 427 (70) and current Mustang.

I left the 325 gears in it because I was going to school in Rochester, 320 miles away. The car made the trip several times, till I wrecked it when someone cut my off. It did not have a forgiving suspension, I had just banged second and was "loose", and he cut in front of me and I had to slam the brakes. Did a 180 across the road and cut a telephone pole in half.

I can’t imagine how scary it was with the junk tires...of the 70’s! Getting loose at 65+ mph on dry pavement will wake you up, spinning is one thing...loosing it at the speed with power is another! Lol! I like my 100 treadwhere tires, anything less is scary!! And wet it undriveable! Lol
