So this happened today. This piece of oak is like trying to cut treated oak flooring. It's worse than an oak railroad tie. If we had any sense, we would have made something decent out of it. So, of course, I cut it all up with chainsaws instead.

OK, I re-edited it and threw the new vid in here as well. Bear in mind the 241 is a fairly strong saw. It started detonating, so it's back to standard ignition timing(it has nearly 200psi compression), so not quite as angry as it was - and it was very tough with the timing advanced. Like 1/3 again faster. It also runs 325 standard kerf semi chisel. So it is running a lot more teeth and kerf as the bar is also almost 2 inches longer. Having said all that, as they both sit right now, the 4300 doesn't feel far off like the last one did from the ported 241(which is why I never ran them both previously - sorry, Andrew). I mean, the Stihl does pull a bit better, but nto as much as I woudl have thought. So the finger ports and the timing, and more aggressive porting made a big difference. Also, that Makita is on it's first tank! It is brand spanking new. When this breaks in, it may be right there with it. Especially since, if you listen for it, it is a touch rich still and just barely cleared up in this very tough wood.

Looking good it’s gonna be strong

My favorite GM engine is the 4.3 v6 in the Astro and Safari vans (the only GM vehicles and engine I like)

We got a Toyota clamp truck at work running a 4.3 vortec. Its the best of both worlds!!!

Crappy day pulling the fifth wheel home. Mileage is way better with the little knob in the dash. I’ll be buying some 14 ply tires very soon.

Lady I work with just puts the truck tires on their toy hauler after a few blow outs one trip. Hasn't had problems since.

Had an 89 blazer with a 4.3. I think it had 130k on when traded in. Never had a problem with the engine or trans other than wearable stuff. Eventually it had too much rust. Body work was going to be more than the vehicle was worth. Gotta just love all the salt in Western PA winters... I heard the 4.3 was basically a 350 with 2 cylinders cut off. I don't know. The math comes out right. 262/6 x 8 comes out right at 350.

Yes, the old 4.3 was essentially just that.
The new 4.3 they came out with in 2014 or 15 was a 5.3 missing 2 cylinders basically.

Wouldn't that be more like a 4.0?

So this is the oak I was cutting on in that video:

The saws:

I did some tree work for one of the premises off estate that the estate owns:

Hard to tell here, but theres a medium Sycamore up front, good sized Ash up the hill to the left of it, and the sycamore is hiding another ash behind it. They were all blocking light and making a mess according to the owner, so I kilt them all with the 4300. Turned most of it in to firewood, and left a few stumps to carve on later.

The 241 is still not quite right. I tried to do a partial strato delete a while back. It runs well, then it has running issues like the impulse isn't working quite right, then it runs well, etc etc. What I did was carve up only the monifold instead of gut the jug entirely. I think there is some sort of resonance that may be causing issues. SO I am gonna have to remove it altogether and gut it all, or replace it. It should run rather strong then. I caught it hitting 15K at one point when it was trying to run. The mtronic was just having issues dealing with it as it is. It also smoked if ya fired it up and when straight away to low idle(and this video is in windy conditions too):
