Got the second floor deck done! The stainless steel bill on this one is crazy! Stainless joist hangers are over $10 each! The 6x6 post connecters are $100 each! The supid expensive 6x10 Concealed brakets are almost $250 each! Going to be around 4K in just stainless!

Thank! Me too, this is the max the code will allow here, couldn’t go any wider on the side an no closer to the water! We are also within one inch of maximum height! It’s pretty tight tolerances! To make the deck bigger would mean making the house smaller, and it not that big!

Oregon rules are pretty strict, and they are lucky there was already a house there or they would have had more difficulty! They might not have gotten the deck at all on the ocean side!

Big mac I I dint even get to touch or measure that log. The fellow cutting planned on taking it to his place on the trailer can't lay a sharp tooth on it

The entire state has a set of basic rules, and each county can add to them....the coast gets more fore sure, and within 1000 feet of any large body of water lake, bay, and ocean the entire project has to be fully engineered, that’s were it gets fun, they call out certain thing that you have to do, most of the time it’s fine but sumtimes it just silly, and the cost goes crazy!
