I've read about it.
I've just always done it on a open fire.
Always used Vegetable oil, but knowing how it can go rancid & hardly using these pans, I went with Lard this time.

Both of these were totally unusable.

Open fire does a decent job (much hotter than a oven can go).

Cara's Choice.
Pregnant, she has the excellent Genetics & papers.
My Boss paid $90k for her.
Everyone that deals with her falls in love with her!
You can just go to the gate & call her & she will walk to you.

When I acquired mine, I burned them off in the wood stove. I season them with Crisco shortening every time I clean them. Works good. Never any rancid smell.
Yep, I just clean them with HOT water & dry on the stove top burner then re-oil.

Lard is CRAZY expensive nowadays!
$11 + Tax for a smallish Crisco now!
I bought some no name "Pure Lard" block @ Walmart for $2 & some change.
I've never bought Lard in my life. Lol

I use electrolysis for cleaning cast iron rusty chains or any other iron.
Takes everything off to original iron

The price of Crisco or lard isn't that bad considering how long it lasts. A can of Crisco lasts a year. It gets used for making pie crusts, greasing pans and seasoning the cast irons every time we clean them.

I gotta stop buying things like this. Then again I can fix my stuff now cheaper and on my time rather than paying someone else and working around when they can get it done. 30 minutes in the morning before work or wasting a Saturday when I need to be away from people.

Not if you render your own. We can buy the fat pretty cheap at the supermarket and just render it ouselves. Have about 30 pints in the basement with more fat in the freezer to make about the same. We use lard for just about everything when cooking and wiping down the cast iron when we finish with it. Had a friend that butchered their Kuni Kuni hogs and were going to toss out the fat, but we asked if we could have it and they gladly gave it to us. Kuni Kuni make really good lard!

Plus, you get the cracklins at the end. Works almost like little bacon bits.

How many times is that for that engine? While I'm thinking about it, have you ever played with an Acura sport-shift transmission?

This is #3. But I figured it out finally. Both times I ordered a stock camshaft and both times I got a not even close to stock cam. Early intake valve closing resulted in such high compression at 2000rpm that the ecm could no longer compensate for detonation control. Talked to Schneider camshaft today and he knew all about it. Going to send him my cams and he is going to try to regrind them into something I can use. And put a little extra in there while he's at it!

What is the year and model of Acura you got Tony?
