You think the lifters need just a touch more preload?

I don't know? They are pedestal style rockers. Have to do some grinding or shimming to adjust that. I'm going to pull it down here after the 4th and check all that. Have to build I tool I think to bleed the lifters to check lash.

Are those the same rockers used in the V6 that would wear the socket for the pushrod?

Noise there all the time or hot/cold?

Look on the bright side, it's not another Mercedes evaporator core..

Chickens love their new barn, they spend lots of time in there.

Getting real tired of pulling this engine apart. Had a lifter fail and just made you feel like everyone is staring at you at a traffic light. Just waiting for your truck to explode.

Now we'll just sit here for 20 minutes. I'll probably waste 10 bucks worth of fuel doing this.

The amount of time and money that I stuck into my six, I could have stuffed a 460 into my truck and had way more power and better gas mileage. But the 6 was a challenge and I learned a lot.
My favorite was my '78 with a built '71 351 Cleveland 2v. Good luck.

Noise only hot. Most Ford pedestal rockers the same design. All is new at time of rebuild. (11k ago) Did not see any scratching on the pushrod ends that would indicate that.

Oil pressure being bled off somewhere after the test port but before it gets to the cam/lifters?
As in, once warm clearances opening up?
Hopefully not that..

Have you tried a can of Restore, Slick 50 or STP?
:D

I hope not too. The engine did not have any of these issues prior to rebuild. Just a good rod knock! Cam bearings of the same design I pulled out and installed correctly. Only has one or two lifters ticking. Not the whole set. So that's why I think it's isolated parts, not an oiling issue. Found a dozen nos exhaust valve rotators for 15 bucks shipped on eBay. Maybe one is broken? I was planning on replacing them when I was back in there for that price. Never heard of a rotator breaking, just not rotating. But I never get lucky on my stuff. Always a head scratcher.

I dumped a box of baby Diamondbacks in the sump. Now it has a rattle noise! :D
