Quick trailer repair after i ripped that angle iron off getting the logs off. It was just tacked on befor. We got out riding on the atvs today. The new one sure is a pig on fuel wich i expected that being auto.
Mine never moved off full and hers used over half tank. Oh well still good fun.

Looks like our garden variety canebrake rattler. Timber rattler is the more common name.
Here in Georgia we have Timber, Diamondback, Pigmy rattlers as well as cottonmouths and the occasional coral snake.
We ain't scared of snakes, ice on the roads will cause panic tho.
Hahaha! Funny about the different regions of the country and how we react to things that r un common to us. Im just saying if i seen that in the woods id shît myself! U could actually hear that dude coming! He has to be 6-8’ long. I keep looking at the pic and trying to judge actual size. I settled at fuggin huge! So in all seriousness both of u r from down south i see. What is the frequency of seeing (deadly snakes) living down there? Like just regular (country livin) and lets say avid outdoorsman(in the wild alot)?

Does that do the trick on snakes effectively? Head shots? Multiple shots? What about distances?

Head shot from a few feet will do it. Gotta remember, when you stumble on these things they are right by you so usually just a few feet away. The only venomous snakes I have ever seen here are copperheads and they are lazy and just stay still so it's easy to pick them off.

I welcome non-venomous snakes around the house and in the barn. I don't have a rodent problem!

Now i got the willies:eek: is that a copperhead in ur pic? We have rat snakes up here in NE IL that r all black like that but at a glance resembles a water moccasin/cotton mouth.

Nope. That's a 6 foot black rat snake. Here is a copperhead I ran over with the lawn mower.

I have a 150 acre farm, creek and 1865 era farmhouse. Over half is in woods.
If you just walk around, fish in the pond and go into the old buildings you will run into a rattlesnake about twice a year.
If you look around for snakes we can find a rattlesnake a day sometimes more.
I killed 3 Canebrake/ Timber rattlers that crawled out from under the farmhouse one at a time while i worked on the tractor. They were young but around the house with dogs and kids around we get rid of them.

If i see a snake before i get too close to it, outside striking range i am cool but if it suprises me and close i still jump.

We have killed a few rattlers at 6 ft+ over the years. The wife skinned out one that was 6' 4" and 13 rattles.

Ya now im not gonna sleep tonite.......that would scare the hell out of me too with the kids and dog too. I feel ya. Thats too much for me:D
But i suppose if i grew up down there it would be different. I grew up flipping junk catching garter snake and the lil lime green snakes. I had a green one get out of its tank and almost gave my Mom a heart attack, could of killed her for God sakes, the door of my room was rite by the steps:eek: that was in high school, thats when i gave up on snakes:( have u ever had one strike at you? And do ya eat the meat? Mount the heads? This stuff intrigues me, cuz i dont see it, thankfully:D

After you go into the bathroom then notice a rat snake hanging from the ceiling rafters you kinda learn to live with them.
My wife taught high school science/ biology so she handles snakes and brought them home in the summer while school was out.
I drew the line with the tarantula, told her if it got loose i was shootin it. Dang thing scared the bug man bad.
