I like foam, but it has limits, you can only make so much power for a certain size. Many quads gain 10% hp with the same size k%n. I tried huge uni filter on a built banshee years ago would barely get past half the rpm range, even did some extreme jeting to try to make it run, it wouldn’t! Put K&N’s smaller than the uni’s and it got full revs. A stock bike is fine if it’s big enough, a lot of times there isn’t enough room for a proper sized foam filter
I used to run K&N on everything. You definitely can feel the better throttle response and power and often better mpg. I would still run one in a street set up if I had a performance rig or a saw if I was cant racing. Even a dune rig with an outwear on it. Our dunes aren't dusty. My issue came from having a K&N cold air kit on a built up jeep tj with a 4.0. With only 5000 miles on the newly installed filter with approximately 300-500 of those miles off-road in extremely dusty conditions, with a group of 15-20 jeeps, my engine was eating dust. I pulled the pipe of the throttle body and about *s-wordt. It was tan and gritty. Wiped my finger across and it looked like a TV screen someone hasn't dusted in months. Immediately I ordered K&Ns own oiled foam pre filter that, per their own admission, is needed for dusty conditions. I'm not a K&N hater, but I know their limitations as far as protection. Putting a foam sleeve on it, to me anyway, might as well just run a foam from the start. How my dirt bikes survied is still a mystery. Lol.

I just happen to be in the market for a center console / ATV carry handgun. I'll scope these out!

My son and I took his car for a cruise after dinner. Needs flogged to help pass smog. Was too dark for pics, but went to check out to the “forest” where the forest fire was the other day.

And go around corners fast and drift on dirt roads. :b1:

And eat hamburger poop dust from the feed yards at dusk
