Easier to remove the clips after you pull the stubs into the engine bay away from the firewall.

Engine replacement in a Escalade Hybrid. There is a lot of stuff to remove. The transmission is so large you have to wrench the top three bolts off from the valley. No way to sneak an extension and socket up there. And yes, that is three phase 300v DC.



Got the new long block bolted in and called it a day. About 11 hours to this point.

Clogged or leaking?

Clogged. Cut it apart afterwards. All that brown is rust that was packed in. Didn't feel like it was heating enough compared to coolant temp during the cold spell especially. Considering the amount of rust that I cleaned out of the engine after I had it"worked" on I figured it probably wasn't flowing right. Dirty and built up on the inside.

Yup, all the heater cores I've done on ford trucks where clogged, never for leakage.

Are you ever able to backflush them and get hot coolant flowing again?
We used to get probably 80% of the old S/T series heater cores operating again by flushing the hell out of them.

For maybe 5 minutes or so. Not long at all. I've had great success with gm vehicles and flushing them. Fords fill with rust, gms seem to fill with gel. (F u dexcool!)

I'd hate to think everyone thinks like those folks who have done and said so many racist things to me and my mother during my life in America; some of which were family on my father's side. He disowned them as they disowned him.
