A GM reman 2.4 goes for $5800. A used engine with 100k on it is about $3000...
If it was under warranty I would be putting in a crank and rods as needed.
They have an extended warranty on it, and sending me an engine.

Warranty? That looks abused? Pretty dirty down there.

Yup. Extended warranty.
Mastertech is the company.
Thats how 98% of them look inside, and I've been in a few.
Funny how the 2.4 in a Terrain or Equinox eats oil and *s-words timing chains, yet same engine in a Malibu or Buick will occasionally crap out a chain. I have only had 1 car for oil consumption.

So if you crank it up and I open the front door I should be able to hear it over here??
Lol, no. It's a modest set up. I could go wild and put an amp on the front's and one on the rear's. I just don't listen loud like I used to. It's nice to have a little kick drum.

Funny you say that. I have never done any engine work in a car. Not even a water pump! Tons of chains, rear mains, phasers, water pumps, timing and valve cover gaskets, OCVs in the suvs.

I wonder if the mix of soccer mom's and a more heavy car have a lot to do with it?

How's progress coming on the scooter Ed?

I'm going to remove and strip the inner fairing this weekend.
That, rear fender and saddlebags are left to be sprayed.
They are installing a new garage door and running air lines in my buddies new work area, so that will be next week hopefully. Then reassemble.
The new booth they installed will be nice when everything is finished.

Friend of mine was charged 6000.00 by the dealer he bought a 2015 jeep renegade new from
At first they told him it was a coil pack and plugs bad lol
It only had 70k and he tracked every oil change and recorded everything.
What's sad is it only books for 9-10k
I tried to get him to get a crate engine
2k for it
Now he'll be stuck with it.

Was it the multiair engine?

1.4 litre base engine is all I know.

That is a multiair engine. The valve actuators fail on them frequently. They can cause all sorts of issues from misfires under load to low/no compression on just one cylinder. It's a really neat design. Intake valves are hydraulically actuated. No mechanical link between the cam and valves.
