Never would have guessed it would have been that solid internally.
Not only could it be solid, it could also be very nicely grained.
During one of the big storms they had back in 2010 or so when I was in Oregon, a 4' wide fir trunk showed up on the banks of a friends bayou.
After cutting into it, I could see all manner of awesome colors in the grain from it being submerged for years.
I asked him if he wanted to use it for some building projects. He says, 'Nah - firewood'.
To date, the most beautiful grained conifer I had ever seen that wasn't burled.
