That is a multiair engine. The valve actuators fail on them frequently. They can cause all sorts of issues from misfires under load to low/no compression on just one cylinder. It's a really neat design. Intake valves are hydraulically actuated. No mechanical link between the cam and valves.
It's 6000.00 neat at 70000 miles apararently
My 500.00 Jeep Grand 318 had 287000 miles on it when I sold it
No engine problems but the whole thing self destructed
Always in freezing temperatures I had to work on it.

Yup, not much to go wrong with old engines. Problem is new engine designs beg for clean, well maintained oil. Then you have manufactures recommending 7,500-15,000 mile oil changes and people have forgotten about the oil dipstick and how to use it!

Here's my niece's husband's fiasco
The psd tore out the 24" city water
Line by accident with a excavator.
It's 15ft deep the sewage is 24ft deep he works on the grey water side for the sanitation board.
His crew had to concrete that stack in so it didn't fall over it's handstacked 24ft down.

He has to climb 32ft down in the main sewage pump station
It has 6ft main pipe running through the city.
