Then why not run semi-chisel?
Looks like you have plenty of hook, although I'm sure many out west get a bit more aggressive with it because they can cutting softwoods.

That is semi-chisel. Other than long bars, it's all I run.

The rec'd 5/32" file tends to penguin-bill like shown above (not a dramatic example, but starting.) Once they get too out of hand, I file the excess out and get the top plate in better alignment. I think an 11/64" file would be a better file for these chains through their whole life. I can't find my box of them, so I've been hitting them with a 3/16" every so often as needed OR taking the time raising and lowering the G-106 with a 5/32" file to bring it all back together.

I keep most of my chains at 30*, as it's rare were cutting any one type of wood in a day.

And you were right, those photos are of dulled chain. That chain now has four or five teeth missing and several down to toothpicks. Almost time for retirement!
