With chaps, the number of layers is important and often mentioned- but I never see "layers" in a discussion of chainsaw pants- why is that? Based only on visuals, chainsaw pants look thinner than chaps, and that gives me the impression they have fewer layers and therefore less protection. Am I missing something? Thanks

i guess i cant answer that in terms of the layers and stuff, but i have a pair of husqvarna technical pants and a pair of solidur pants and they both feel just as thick as my chaps. the one thing i will say is that on the husqvarna pants the protective material stops mid thigh, which seems kind of dumb. the solidur pants are a little lighter weight and more vented on back so i use those in the summer, the protective material goes further up the leg which i like. and they are about $75 cheaper than the husqvarna pants. husky pants are more comfortable tho for sure.
