Edit: I wonder what else is made of pine. Maybe rafters? Let's round up the height of house to 50 foot. The tree was pretty much 140 not including that small stuff on top. That's 90 foot of weight above it. Mass tends to stay in motion. It's why heavier bullets of equal design travel further after hitting something. Or trucks or litterly anything. Physics.

That tree struck that house about 20ft into the tree.

Ours struck at about 65ft.

Huge difference.

Go hit a softball with a bat a couple of inches above your fingers and then at the end of the bat and see which way hits the ball farther and harder.
