How does the holzhausen system work for You? o_O

I tried them before and have one right now, the wood in its center does not seem to season well at all.

I am in the process of restacking my current holzhausen.

I hate stacking firewood, it is so time consuming.

I haven't checked the insides yet. When I do I'll let you know. I stacked 2 of them, both differently inside.
One pile was stacked all horizontally inside, the other all vertical inside.
We shall see...

I build cribs out of the skids that we receive sheet steel on at work, split wood just gets thrown in until its heaped, then the top gets tarped. I'm always outside putzing around, if I know its gonna be dry for a while I roll the tarps back and let the sun bake the wood piles.

After the two months of not burning wood passes ;) I load up wire baskets and bring em up by the house, 3-4 at a time, they get tarped there as well.

I have lots of different hardwood but for the time being I have more Ash than I could ever use, a lot of that burns immediately, it gets split right into the baskets.

When we run out of ash I may have to start stacking/seasoning again, at which point I am gonna want wood sheds with beautiful stacks in them, for now I'm just being lazy.

I've never stacked firewood in my life but made this the other day will fill it use it up and refill as needed.
Only light a fire at night here in winter the day's are nice I don't burn that much firewood over winter.
Made it all out of old scrap hardwood timber from my mill day's and some tin I had laying around I still have enough off cut's stashed to last a few more years yet for firewood.
