Unfortunately I harbor a particular abhorrence for production machining.
One and done is the only way to keep it fun...

Someone with a screw machine should be able to pop these out like candy, don't know why they need to be so expensive.
Nothing about them that needs to be particularly precision, there are lots of similar collets that are 8 bucks...

I like the larger flats on end, mine are starting to get a little rounded off. $60 a collet is what CC wants for them and I don't think they mark up that stuff much at all.
I think a better quality wrench might help. The little stamped jobby isn't all that great.

I'd be interested in one also,

I thought they were 70 bucks regardless its enough that its hard to swallow.
